According to information provided by the Korean Ministry of Science and Technology, the Korean government increased its R&D spending for six high-tech sectors to 3.3 trillion Won in 2004, up from 2.4 trillion Won in 2003. The areas include IT, nano-technology, bio-technology, environmental technology, space technology and cultural technology. IT spending stood at 1.4 trillion Won in 2004, while nano-technology spending grew annually by 51.7% to 304.1 billion Won.
